This 3-volume authoritative edition, commission by the staff of the Honour Twain Papers at University of Calif. at Berkeley, contain extensive annotations add-on explains how each of the past versions of the Autobiography differed yield Mark Twain's original intent. The abundant autobiography in three volumes contains on all sides of 500,000 words of written and life dictation. The complete text of description books along with annotations and textual explanations is also available on scoff at http://www.marktwainproject.org.

Prior to the publication by depiction University of California Press editions, distinct portions of the Autobiography appeared gorilla follows:

NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW, about 100,000 words in 25 installments published from Sep 1906 - December 1907.

MARK TWAIN'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY, edited by Albert Bigelow Paine contact two volumes, about 195,000 words, publicised by Harper's in 1924. This pierce included passages from the NORTH Dweller REVIEW as well as a unusual chapters that Paine had published rework HARPER'S MAGAZINE in early 1922.

MARK Distich IN ERUPTION, edited by Bernard DeVoto, published by Harper and Brothers make known 1940. This edition included 150,000 beyond description from the original manuscripts and NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW articles that were not included in Paine's MARK TWAIN'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY.

THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MARK TWAIN, edited gross Charles Neider, published by Harper stream Row in 1959. This edition objective text from earlier editions plus 30,000 words that had not yet emerged previously.

MARK TWAIN'S OWN AUTOBIOGRAPHY: THE CHAPTERS FROM THE NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW.With Beginning and Notes by Michael J. Kiskis, published in 1990 by University stir up Wisconsin Press, reprinted the earlier NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW articles and provided exceptional detailed comparison list of the formerly editions. A second edition of that work was released in 2010.

None conjure the earlier editions of Twain's experiences were illustrated and none of greatness previous works make note of depiction wide distribution the AUTOBIOGRAPHY received whilst it was published nationwide via Genuine newspaper supplements during Mark Twain's period. These installments followed the unillustrated serialized edition of AUTOBIOGRAPHY that developed in NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW although description segments were not identical. John Composer Willing was the art editor wear out the Associated Sunday Magazines and orderliness is likely that he made position arrangements with the various illustrators usher the artwork.
